Mimi's Cafe, Albuquerque NM

Restaurant Review

No stars

Bottom Line: Poor service.  Who needs it?

Mimi's, visible from I-25 Southbound in Albuquerque, sure looked cute; the decor is supposed to have something to do with pre-Katrina New Orleans, as even the least observant might guess from the word "Dixieland" being displayed in 2-foot high letters along the back wall.  Companion and I arrived on a Saturday, around 11:20 am, and the place was packed - with tourists.  We were told it would be a 20-minute wait, and we waited.

While waiting, we glanced at the menu.  It wasn't that enticing.  I was leaning toward the grilled vegetable ciabatta, and Companion was thinking about quiche.  But we were hopeful.  Maybe it was going to be the best grilled vegetable ciabatta anyone's ever had, anywhere.

The 20-minute wait lasted 30 minutes, at which time we were seated . . . and then promptly ignored.  (Perhaps our choice of words is wrong; nothing happens promptly at Mimi's.)  Five minutes went by.  A waiter approached a couple seated after us, and then brought them beverages.  Ten minutes passed.  Two pleasant senior citizens, seated way after us, placed their order.

We finally got tired of being ignored, and left.

There are lots of great restaurants in Albuquerque, and most of them have decent service.  Mimi's isn't one of them.

Don't go.

Of interest . . .
